Oskar Jellinek
ca. 1887 - 1942
Oskar Jellinek and Ignatz Jellinek were sons of Jetti Jellinek, and half-brothers of Gustav Jellinek. Jetti was Siegmund Jellinek’s sister.
During good times, pre-Nazis, Oskar Jellinek and his wife, Berta, owned a ranch in the forest in the Moravian region of Czechoslovakia. Berta Jellinek’s dispirited December 1938 letter to her cousin, Hugo Jellinek, will appear on this website at a later time.
Oskar and Berta were murdered by the Nazis, most probably, in the spring of 1942 in Auschwitz-Birkenau, or in the Belzec killing center or in Izbica. Their son Williy Jellinek, born in 1916, survived Dachau, Buchenwald and Auschwitz and returned to live and prosper financially in Austria after the war. He died ca. 1985 in Austria.
Ignatz Jellinek and his wife, Elsa, were murdered, most likely also in Auschwitz-Birkenau or Belzec or enroute to Belzec, via Izbica, in 1942. They had no children.
