Karl Jellinek’s Passport out of Nazi-annexed Austria and into
the United States, December 1938 - February 1939

















This passport was issued by the Nazi regime on December 29, 1938. Together with the United States-issued Immigration Visa on page 31, this small booklet enabled Karl Jellinek to escape from Nazi-annexed Austria to the US and thus save his life. 

 

Note :

• The Nazi symbol of the eagle on top of a swastika, which appears throughout the passport.

• The red “J”  standing for “Jew”, on page 1.

• The visas and embossed circular stamps on page 31 show the location of the American consulate as “VIENNA, GERMANY.”
